Installation and operating instructions

The Pulse-Stop LPS-1 series dampeners are designed for low pressure applications (up to 125 psig); LPS-2 Series models are designed for use up to 300 psig. Maximum operating temperature: 1750 F for polypropylene material, 2250 F for PVDF material, and 3500 F for stainless steel material. Polypropylene units are glass filled and are not suitable for handling hydrofluoric acid.

Installation:

  1. Precharge the dampener using nitrogen gas to 60% of the normal pump operating pressure. Caution: Do not use oxygen.
  2. The dampener should be installed in a vertical position, as close as possible to the pump discharge port. Caution: do not cross-thread.
  3. The pipe or nipple connecting the dampener to the line should be as short as possible.
  4. If the pump discharge pressure changes more than 15%, readjustment of the dampener’s gas precharge pressure may be necessary.
  5. Periodically check the dampener’s precharge pressure to make sure it is in operable condition. Make sure the pump is not operating when checking the precharge pressure.

Note: The dampener’s bladder elastomers must be compatible with the type of fluid(chemical) being pumped and for the desired temperature service
