Disassembly
1. Detach bladder from gas end plug by unscrewing nut with socket
wrench.
2. Remove large diameter locknut located externally on the gas end
plug. (Photo 1 ).
3. Remove exposed spacer.
4. Push the plug assembly complete with bladder into the shell.
5. Remove O ring and washer. (Photo 2)
6. Fold and remove anti-extrusion ring. (Photo 3)
7. Withdraw plug assembly and bladder from shell. (Photos 4 &
5)
Cleaning & Inspection
1. After disassembly, clean all parts with an approved cleaning
solution (such as varsol).
2. Blow all the parts dry with air and place them where they will
be free from foreign matter.
3. Check elastomer items for deterioration, abrasion marks, cracks,
holes, bubbles or any similar defects.
4. Replace “O” rings and any other items deemed unsuitable
for further usage. Refer to the parts list for the correct replacements.
5. Bladder must be checked by inflating to normal size and checking
with a soapy solution. After testing, deflate immediately.
WARNING: Overinflating bladder outside of the shell may result in
failure of the bladder. |

Reassembly
1. Pour a liberal amount (up to 10% of volume) of clean system
hydraulic fluid into the shell to lubricate and cushion the bladder.
2. Expel all air from the bladder and fold longitudinally into
a compact roll. Install valve core to retain this condition.
3. Insert bladder into the shell.
4. Insert gas end plug.
5. Fold anti-extrusion ring, to pass through top opening in the
shell and place in position internally with steel collar at shell
mouth.
6. Replace washer, “O” ring and spacer.
7. Pull up on bladder to bring valve stem through center of gas
end plug.
8. Secure with valve stem nut.
9. Secure gas end plug with large locknut.
Periodic Inspection
After original installation, check pressure once during first
week to see that no leak has developed. Thereafter, precharge
pressure should be checked once a month.
Recommended Gas:
Use “oil pumped or dry nitrogen” which is commercially
available. For any other gas consult Fluid Energy Controls.
CAUTION: Do not use oxygen
Precharge pressure should be at least 25% of maximum system operating
pressure. Damage to the bladder may occur if that ratio is not
maintained. |
